Design Projects : Disabled Kids

Hi peeps!

First blog post here and it will touch about my design projects throughout this semester.
Three projects in total, and the theme I got is "kids of autism".

The first project is "info-GRAPHIC - Kids Disability Information".
Infographic is a presentation of information using eye-catching graphics, symbols, numbers, etc instead of long essays or words, however the infographic we gotta produce is not an ordinary infographic - it have to be interactive with viewer!

(Here's a reminder - click on the image for bigger view size)

Here's my infographic of autistic kids after one months of researches and design.
I covered the center points of the infographic (which are the programmes) with card boards for viewer to flip and explore - an idea from characteristics of autistic kids, which is the hidden self.
Autistic kids are hard to be understand, however if you give and provide them loves and cares, you will find out that they have totally different and fantastic world in their mind.

"...But the important thing to remember is that most kids with health disabilities are just as smart as everyone else. They just need to be taught in ways that are tailored to their unique learning styles."

The second project, "Fun Factor - Kids Art Lab", is about designing an art lab where the disabled kids can play, learn and get developed at the same time.
It is a challenging project, as it is dealt with disabled kids who are different with normal kids in terms of behavour and even physical.

The presentation board and...
The model!

In-ner Scent art lab is a place for the kids to make their own sachet bags after experiencing and choosing materials i.e. fabrics, scents, paints/ colors, etc. with the guidance of therapists. It's design comes from the concept of "Inner Revelation".

This art lab would be located inside a therapy centre we designed in final project - "Kids House - Interactive Learning Therapy Centre".

IN-REVEE Kids Centre is an interactive learning therapy centre for autistic kids to play and learn at the same time. It is designed with the concept of "inner revelation".

The programmes are "Experience" and "Express". Experience to enable kids to develop their 5 sensory - listen, smell, taste, vision and touch, while Express is to trigger kids' creativity and imagination by making their own art pieces based on what they have experienced.

Explorer Maze is an activity under the "Experience", where the kids have to completed their "missions" in different simulated environments - the "Forest", "Desert" and "Undersea" by using their sensory. Another activity under the "Experience" is the Bakery Core Kitchen, where the kids can bake their own pastry after tasting and choosing various flavors and ingredients together with their parents under the guidance of the therapists/ chefs.

There are two art labs under the "Express", which are the In-ner Scent I have just mentioned above and Melody Core, where the kids can make their own wind chimes with different materials such as recycled aluminum tins, wood pieces, etc.

Presentation board pin up!

Clearer image of my presentation board, but have no manually-drawn sketches on the blank blue space though.

Some materials used in the IN-REVEE Kids Centre.

Images of my 1:100 scaled model. It's sooooooo tiny and cute (?) LOL.

...and the first floor.

(Thanks Zaza for helping me to take this photo!)
There's still a lot of improvements need to be made for my design, in terms of mutuality of design, research base, skills on using computer to produce works... REALLY A LOT. But, thanks to my review panels, my lecturers, and even my friends, who let me to know my weakness and help me to improve it. I appreciate it so much.

Here's end of the post. Thanks for reading and have a good day.
